HOW WE HELP

Choose who you are from the icons
below to see what we can do for you.

  • Student
  • Parent
  • School
    • Hanging out on the driveway or at the basketball court, staying up late reading or texting friends, making movie plans… being a student sure is fun. Things start getting a bit more serious as you get closer to college, though. It’s all “What do you want to do next?” and “Where do you see yourself five years from now?” then onwards. And you wonder if there’s an easy way of making the transition. Our response? Yes, there is.

One Step Up will work with you right from Class 9 onwards and paint a picture of all the professions in the real world, match them with your aptitude and interests and prep you for your college admissions and work life. Who says things will get harder as you grow older?

    • We share a common goal: to ensure that your child can give wings to the potential within, personally and professionally. One Step Up’s services are created and constantly upgraded to help young adults find their true calling in a world saturated with professional choices, and help shape them into individuals capable of tackling anything that comes their way.

We start by introducing your child to various career options, in Class 9. An aptitude test follows in Class 10, with dedicated parent-child sessions to discuss test results and next steps. Class 11 and 12 programmes help zoom in on specific career choices, subjects to be studied and admissions assistance. And we maintain open communication with you throughout, so we can work together to do what is right by your child.

    • We know the enormous responsibility you shoulder as an educational institution. Allow us to ease some of it with our faculty of experienced counsellors who will add to the excellent guidance your teachers and counsellors provide, through our range of career counselling and life skills programmes. Each programme is accompanied with analytics that help you align your academic preparations to match student goals. We also send alerts to school counsellors and heads on admissions and related queries.

Our programmes go beyond just students – we conduct parent and teacher training sessions as well. This way, the school can be personally invested in the future of every student, without the additional responsibility.

Aptitude Test

Discovering a student’s skills and

    improvement and mapping them
against their interests to arrive at
    possible streams to explore.

HOW IT IS DELIVERED

  • In person, using a
    tablet/mobile device

HOW IT WORKS

  • It is a proven, globally accepted
    standardised test that measures
    students on eight parametres.

Compass

Tracking and matching students’ test
results against needs of the real world

  • OUR GOAL

Work alongside students to build and
explore a long list of courses and
professions linked to the subjects they
have chosen and the interests they have.

HOW IT IS DELIVERED

  • In person, using a
    tablet/mobile device

HOW IT WORKS

  • The programme highlights important
aspects of a future career, such as
what a specific job entails, the
    rewards and challenges associated
with it, and the possible financial/
    professional growth.

  • A 45-minute session tracking student
skills and activity levels is conducted.

  • Anchors are identified. These anchors
are skills and activities that are
inherent in a student and that will act
as support systems to excel at work
and life. The context of these anchors
is localised, which is to say that even
if someone is exceptionally good at
Rangoli, it is taken into account
    during evaluation.

  • Statistical tools are used to arrive at
an extensive list of career choices that
    are linked to the anchors.

Individual Counselling

Focusing on specific career streams and
helping navigate college admissions.

  • OUR GOAL

Document three plans of action for
    every student after careful evaluation
    based on several parametres and
mentor them on setting each of them
    in motion.

HOW IT IS DELIVERED

  • In person
  • One-on-one
    sessions
  • Parents likely
    to be involved

HOW IT WORKS

  • Students are urged to consider a
college plan based on factors such as
Class 12 marks and interests, as
well as on where they see their course
    leading them, the course content
and how to get into the course.

  • A student’s past marks are evaluated
and the aptitude report is analysed
along with student tracker and other
    tests that have been conducted.

  • Basis all the data gathered over Classes 9,
    10, 11 and 12, every
    student’s Plan A, B and C is
documented in a ready reference file
that is uploaded on a student’s home
page on the One Step Up website.

  • Entry kits are prepared for every
    student, highlighting the admission
    procedures for chosen colleges,
details on the entrance exam and the course content.
